| View from Bells heap showing the mouth of the tunnel (centre right) - Head Gear for the new shaft that was never used (centre) and track running up Bells heap (bottom right). An endless rope worked by a haulier pulled the trams of stones and waste up this track. When the trams reached the top they tipped over, emptied their contents and returned down the heap. As the heap rose the track had to be extended. |
