The Castlecomer Mines were located in the parishes of Castlecomer and Clogh - Moneenroe. These two parishes are currently served by six Primary Schools:
 Firoda School, Castlecomer Boys School, Presentation Girls School, Castlecomer, Wandesforde School Castlecomer, Gazebo School Moneenroe and St. Patricks School Clogh.

In the course of our research we would have interacted with parents and relatives of many of the pupils of these schools. In fact most of the childrens' grandparents would have had mining connections.
